Statement of Purpose for Australia

The Australian Government has replaced the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement for student visas with a Genuine Student (GS) requirement (Ministerial Direction 106). This is effective for all student visa applications lodged from 23rd March 2024.

 

1: Give details of your current circumstances, including ties to family, community, employment and economic circumstances. 

• Family Details: Provide information on family members, their respective income sources, and financial responsibilities.

Family’s Assets: Give a brief overview of liquid and immovable assets owned by the family.

• Family’s Business Involvement: If the applicant’s parent is employed or running a business, include details such as the organization’s name, job role, position, salary, company size, nature of business, and last year's income records, including bank statements and income tax returns (ITR).

• Reason for Not Pursuing a Similar Course Locally: Explain why the applicant has chosen to study this course abroad instead of enrolling in a similar program in their home country.

Employment or Education Gaps: Address any gaps in employment or education, providing valid explanations.

• Military Service or Civil Unrest (If Applicable): Outline any circumstances related to military obligations or civil unrest in the applicant’s home country, if relevant.


 

2: Explain why you wish to study this course in Australia with this particular education provider. This must also explain your understanding of the requirements of the intended course and studying and living in Australia.
Comparison of Countries and Institutions: Describe the countries and education providers you considered the reasons for your comparisons, and why you ultimately chose Australia and this specific college for your studies.

Course Selection and Research on Alternatives: Explain why you opted for this course, whether you explored alternative programs, and how your interest in this subject initially developed.

• Program Understanding and Benefits: Demonstrate your comprehension of the program structure, key components, and learning outcomes, and explain how this course will contribute to your career and personal development.

• Campus and Location Information: Provide insights into the campus facilities, location advantages, and resources available, highlighting why this setting aligns with your academic and career goals.

• Planned Living Arrangements: Detail your accommodation plans while studying in Australia, including the type of housing, expected location, estimated cost, and how you intend to arrange your stay.

 

3: Explain how completing the course will be of benefit to you.

• Course Alignment with Education and Career Growth: Explain how the chosen course matches your current educational background and how it will enhance your job opportunities either in your home country or internationally.

• Course Relevance to Past or Future Employment: Describe how the program relates to your previous work experience or aligns with your planned career path, whether in your home country or abroad.

• Expected Salary and Benefits: Provide an overview of the potential salary range and additional benefits you may receive in your home country or another country after completing the course and gaining the relevant qualifications.

 

4: Give details of any other relevant information you would like to include.

• Immigration History: Provide details about your past immigration records, including of spouse (if applicable). Mention any previous visa approvals or rejections from Australia or other countries.

• Additional Information for Student Visa Application: Include any other relevant details that could support your student visa application, such as personal circumstances, future plans, or any significant factors influencing your study decision.
